What steps is your company taking to ensure that mesothelioma asbestos exposure is not occurring in the work place? For many going to work on a daily basis the last thing they consider is the danger they may be putting themselves and their family in.

Recently 31 states recognize that cancer development in firefighters is likely due to conditions the firefighters were exposed to on the job. Where applicable the state may see cancer as an occupational illness, if the state does this there is a possibility of reimbursement through workers’ compensation or other funds You may wonder about the other 29 states? All states should pinpoint this?

One such reason may be the length of time it takes to develop the symptoms. Mesothelioma is one such cancer. Asbestos, a highly toxic material, is the cause of mesothelioma. It can take 20-50 years for any symptoms to become manifest for the deadly cancer known as mesothelioma. (20-30 years)

Another industry afflicted by high rates of mesothelioma asbestos exposure is the automotive industry. The UK has seen many cases dealing with asbestos disease recently.

In older cars you will find asbestos products in the linings, clutch facings and break pads. Vehicles manufactured today are still built with asbestos brakes and clutches, just in smaller quantities than older parts.

The real issue is that these tiny fibers are able to stay airborne for such long periods of time. Microscopic asbestos fibers can be lethel to workers that inhale these small fibers.

Another part of the Automotive industry that ranks high for mesothelioma asbestos exposure are the mechanics. Many times older vehicles will have asbestos material in the the break pads, mechanics working on these cars need to take great care against exposure.

Consider checking with your employer to see if your work place is save from mesothelioma asbestos exposure. It could save your life!
